When was this lead found that caused these health exams? Has the turf with lead been replaced? Why would anyone place a sports facility where children place in such a place?

Craig- Ironbound Stadium was not part of the old Ruppert Stadium. The old Ruppert Stadium was off of Wilson Avenue and between Avenue K and Avenue L.

There is enough information on this at http://oldnewark.com/sports/buildings/ruppert.htm

Enjoy.

Was the stadium by that field in use or abandoned? Was it part of the old Ruppert Stadium or built separately/later by the Parks Department? My friend Gaetano thought it was part of Ruppert Stadium, but my contact at Landmarks Preservation thought the whole of Ruppert Stadium was demolished. If you know for sure one way or another, pls let me know at ResurgenceCity@aol.com . Thank you.
