One of the most important factors in a person’s quality of life is their safety. While crime has dropped in the last few years, there is much to be done. Looking at the crime statistics for the 3rd precinct (the precinct that serves the Ironbound) below, some types of crimes are higher than the previous year while others have dropped. Shootings stayed the same. Murder, rape, and theft are up. Robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and auto-theft was down. A 12% decrease in crime overall.
